Hi I'm Kristen!

I am a sentimental romantic who loves life’s little luxuries. Alone time, fresh flowers, date nights with my husband, handmade gifts and strong cocktails fill my life with joy. My personal experience with motherhood has inspired me to focus on photographing families, newborns and small children.

One of my favourite things about being a family photographer is watching families grow. It is so special when past clients ask me to document their growing families. Back in October, I took family photos for Tyler and Louisa. During this session, Louisa excitedly shared that she was pregnant. Having just had my second baby…

I worry about my weight and am uncomfortable in my postpartum body. Getting in front of the camera makes me feel vulnerable and slightly uncomfortable. As…

  • Nannette Minley - I wish I would have read this 4 years ago! My oldest is 4 and we have never taken family photos. I didn’t want my body captured in its current state. Wish I could do it all over again.ReplyCancel

    • Kristen - It’s such a struggle for me too Nannette. The good news is that you’re baby is still young and you’ve got lots of years left to document! My oldest is 3 and besides the newborn photos, there are maybe a handful of photos of us all together since. I recommend booking a session with a photographer or making your husband snap photos here or there (even if he grumbles like mine does)!ReplyCancel

Way back in October, I met three of my favourite clients for a shoot in Rotary Park. Tyler, Louisa and their daughter Yarra are moving to Lethbridge. Before embarking on this new adventure, they wanted to get family photos taken with downtown Calgary in the background. What a perfect way to commemorate their time in…

Film for the win people! All of my Barbados family photos were taken with my trusty old film cameras.  My husband thinks I’m crazy when I haul the Nikon f100 and the Pentax 645n around on vacation. I just ignore him because hese images are totally worth the extra weight and hassle. While in Barbados, I shot…
